
In the mid 1990`s she discovered an influx of young girls who had traveled from the Northern Region of Ghana in search of greener pastures at the Agbogbloshie market. She therefore decided to mobilize and educate them in the areas of personal hygiene, child care, cooking and finances through their quarterly meetings. She also sponsored and enrolled them in various vocational trades such as bead making, soap making etc.
In the mid 1980`s, as a mother who goes to the Agbogbloshie market to purchase food items for the family, she identified the need to mobilize young girls who have traveled from the Northern Sector of Ghana to the Southern Sector in search of greener pastures who were head‐potters, locally known as Kayayei.
She met with them once every quarter to give them talk on personal hygiene, how to educate their children, how to save their income and training them on bead making, soap making, as well as sponsoring and enrolling some of them in catering schools.
In her Ministry as the Women`s president of the North Kaneshie Assemblies of God Church, she financially supported widows and orphans in the areas of rent, tuition and daily meals. A Ministry that started in the 1980`s with deprived children of 18 head‐potters, 6 widows and 2 orphans has amalgamated into a foundation of over 100 beneficiaries.
In loving memory of her legacy, the Susanna foundation was officially created in 2021 to continue what Susanna Mahama started.
